Practice companion · Reiki

Hold the practice,
without breaking it.

Gokai guides the session position by position, brings the five precepts into your day, and marks transitions with a sustained haptic or a singing bowl. Your hands stay where they are, the practice stays whole.

A practice supported

A companion for every session.

And for every day between sessions. Gokai holds your protocol during the session, surfaces the five precepts morning and evening, and keeps a record of your practice.

Guided protocols

Twelve classical positions for self-practice and partner sessions, plus your own sequences. Gokai moves with you, position after position, without asking you to look at the screen.

Silent transitions

Between positions, a sustained haptic or a singing bowl synthesized at the frequency of a bronze bowl. No alarm, no notification, the silence of the session is never broken.

The five precepts daily

A discreet morning and evening reminder, with the kanji, the romaji and the translation. The recitation stays yours; Gokai simply keeps the thread, day after day.

A practice log

Every session, every self-practice, every recitation is recorded locally. You see the consistency of your practice without ever having to count it yourself. Nothing leaves your device.

Four tabs, one gesture

Session, Practitioner, Library, Settings, a frosted-glass tab bar in the spirit of iOS 26. Everything is within thumb reach, nothing buried in menus.

A space for practitioners

A dedicated tab beyond the session: precept of the day, hydration and breathing reminders, pause between two clients, seven-day consistency, patient notes lockable with Face ID. Detailed below, module by module.

A space for practitioners.

Beyond the session, a dedicated tab gathers what carries you through a day in practice. Stacked modules, washi background, frosted glass, to compose at your own rhythm.

  1. I
    Precept of the day

A ritual card, one precept brought forward each day, with its kanji and watermark ensō. Five days, five precepts, in rotation.

  2. II
    Discreet reminders

Hydration, breathing, energetic clearing, room bowl. Each reminder triggers at the time you choose, or stays available on demand.

  3. III
    Seven-day consistency

Two numbers, sessions and duration, and a discreet histogram. No score, no streak to hold: only what actually happened.

  4. IV
    Resources

Texts, techniques, symbols, meditations. A brief library, available throughout the day.

  5. V
    Session journal

Post-practice impressions, in a few sentences. Encrypted locally.

  6. VI
    Client notes

One card per person you welcome, lockable with Face ID, never in the cloud.

Three moments

Before, during, after the session.

  1. 01

    Before · choose the thread

You select a protocol, self-practice, partner session, or one of your own sequences, then put the phone down. Gokai already knows where you are heading.

  2. 02

During · Gokai holds the thread

A long, gentle haptic marks each position. Nothing to watch, your hands stay where they are. The session moves on its own, without you having to count or to look.

  3. 03

    After · the thread remains

The session is logged in your journal, and the precepts return morning and evening. The practice does not end with the session, it continues, quietly, in between.

五戒 · Gokai

The five precepts.

Attributed to Mikao Usui, recited each morning and each evening. The app's name comes directly from them.

  1. I 怒るな Okoru na Just for today,
    do not be angry.
  2. II 心配すな Shinpai suna Just for today,
    do not worry.
  3. III 感謝して Kansha shite Show gratitude
    for all that is.
  4. IV 業をはけめ Gyō wo hakeme Devote yourself sincerely
    to your work.
  5. V 人に親切に Hito ni shinsetsu ni Be kind
    to others.

Frequently asked

What we get asked the most.

How does Gokai support the practice?
Gokai holds your protocol during the session, surfaces the five precepts morning and evening, and keeps track of your consistency in a local journal. It does not replace your practice; it lets it unfold without friction, and weaves a thread between sessions.
Why no traditional sound alarm?
An alarm breaks the inner state of the person you are with, and your own. Gokai uses the phone's haptic engine and, if you choose, a synthesized singing bowl with a very soft attack. The cue is perceptible without being intrusive.
iOS and device compatibility?
Gokai requires iOS 26 or later. The app runs on iPhone 11 and newer. Available in French and English; Spanish, Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese are coming in an upcoming update. An iPad version is under consideration.
What data is collected?
No collection. No account, no analytics, no advertising ID, no application server. Your protocols and preferences sync across your devices through your private iCloud account, encrypted and inaccessible to the publisher (you can turn it off in iOS Settings); history and notes stay on the device. The timer works without a connection, and sync resumes once you are back online.
How much does Gokai cost?
$5.99 once, on the App Store. No subscription, no in-app purchases, no limited free tier. All features are included from the start, and updates are free.
Is Gokai a practice companion or a medical device?
Neither. Gokai is a practice companion for Reiki practitioners. It does not replace any training, any protocol transmitted by a teacher, and is not a medical device or a clinical intervention.
What does version 1.2 bring?
A new four-tab architecture, Session, Practitioner, Library, Settings, in the spirit of iOS 26 frosted glass, and a modular Practitioner space: precept of the day, reminders, pause between sessions, seven-day consistency, resources. The update is free for current owners.
Can I create my own sequences?
Yes. You compose your protocols position by position, with the duration and the transition you want. You can save as many as needed and start one with a single gesture before the session.
